Convention - SDCC 2019 - We were at the SYFY and IDW Entertainment Wynonna Earp panel

By Mulder, Hilton San Diego Bayfront, Indigo Ballroom,, 20 july 2019

Saddle up, Earpers! SYFY's hit series and the 2018 People's Choice Award Winner for Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy Show is back. Just because a mind-blowing season finale put an end to Bulshar and the Earp curse doesn't mean Wynonna's done kicking demon-ass or putting up one hell of a fight to rescue Waverly from the Garden of Eden. Celebrate the award-winning series based on the IDW Publishing comic book by joining cast members Melanie Scrofano, Katherine Barrell, Chantel Riley, Greg Lawson, and Michael Eklund, alongside executive producer Emily Andras and comic book creator, Beau Smith, as they tease the upcoming 4th season and look back at the show’s most hell-raising moments. Moderated by Den of Geek’s Kayti Burt.

Wynonna Earp graced the stage at San Diego Comic Con 2019 much to the delight of fans with the cast, show runner and creator all in attendance. The show had been put on an indefinite hiatus after IDW Entertainment hit some financial difficulties pertaining to the continued production of the show, but three weeks before Comic Con they dropped the news that production was getting the go ahead to get working on an already announced season 4, which had been announced at the previous years panel. San Diego Comic Con marked the first reunion since the announcement and fans were eager to hear from show runner Emily Andras and Wynonna Earp herself, Melanie Scrofano, as well as the rest of the cast.

It didn’t go unmentioned about how hard the fans rallied for their beloved show. Taking to social media with #FightForWynonna and purchasing billboard space in New York City to show their dedication to all things Wynonna Earp. Everyone on the show was beyond grateful and are very pleased to get the ball rolling again so we can find out what happened to some of our favorite characters.

Many questions from fans were directed at Andras about where season 4 will take us but not many were answered to not give anything away. It did lead to the always witty banter from the shows lead with her fellow cast members in what they hope to see in the upcoming season from their characters as well as those unable to attend this years convention. Those missing from the panel, though greatly missed, surprised attendees with a short video of them singing the shows theme song and giving a quick shout out to San Diego and their fans, the Earpers.

Will Waverly and Doc make it out of the garden? Who is Valdez? What happened to Nicole, Jeremy, and Robin? So many questions but we’ll find out soon enough, Wynonna Earp returns in 2020.

Synopsis :
Wynonna Earp, the great-great-granddaughter of legendary lawman Wyatt Earp, battles revenants, the reincarnated outlaws that Wyatt killed. She also fights other supernatural beings that inhabit the Ghost River Triangle, a cursed territory near the Canadian Rockies that includes Purgatory, her home town. Upon her 27th birthday, Wynonna inherited the special power to return revenants to Hell with her ancestor's 16-inch barrel special "Peacemaker" revolver. She is recruited by the Black Badge Division (BBD), a secret government agency led by Special Agent Xavier Dolls which eventually includes an ageless Doc Holliday and Wynonna's sister, Waverly Earp. Nicole Haught, Waverly's girlfriend and a Purgatory Sheriff's Deputy, assists the team in her local police role. The first season centers on Wynonna fighting the revenants who kidnapped her older sister Willa from their homestead when they were girls, and the threat posed by Bobo Del Rey, leader of the local revenants. In the second season Wynonna discovers she is pregnant, while Waverly struggles with possession by a demon and doubts about her lineage. At the same time, two sister-wife widows of the dead sheriff who cursed Wyatt Earp seek to resurrect him.
